Sandra had nursed the idea of learning shoemaking due to difficulty she encounters while trying to purchase a footwear because of her plus size feet.
She stumbled upon The Aba Mastering Footwear Program and leveraged the opportunity.
Join in as she shares her experience at The Footwear Academy.
Hi Sandra, please introduce yourself.
Hello, my name is Sandra Chidera Nwachukwu.
How did you hear about The Aba Mastering Footwear Program?
I heard about the program on social media, Facebook precisely. My friend Hope Ogunka, who was already enrolled in the first batch of the program was always posting updates and I stumbled on one of those updates and made more enquiry.
What motivated you to sign up for the program?
I have always nursed the idea of producing my own shoes. This low key idea was birthed from the difficulty I encounter in getting footwear to buy. I am Large footed and each time I go footwear shopping, I either see fine designs that are either undersized or oversized, this alone was very frustrating.
Tell us your experience during the training.
My training started on a wrong foot but I was determined not to be deterred.
On my first day to the training center, I was robbed. The driver and conductor of the bus I boarded noticed I was a newbie in the city from my mannerism and they took advantage of the situation. My phone was taken away.
The situation made me buckle up. I paid more attention in class and tried to read the online notes using the gadgets of other trainees.
I must at this point say I had very supportive team mates. The TFA training ship sailed by Mr Bentley Chukwuemeka also made my situation bearable. They were ever ready to answer questions and give directions where necessary.
Mrs Chidinma Chukwuemeka also made our training sessions fun with games and teachings on soft skills. God bless the family.
Awesome, so what’s next for you?
I intend to grow my shoe production brand @Shoegar.
I will also enroll for more training program so that I can perfect my skills and possibly train other people too.
Drop your contact information too.
I can be reached with the number, 08103761211 and on Facebook @shoegar
What advice do you have for young people?
I will advice young people out there not to relent in their pursuit of success. Life would throw different obstacles along your path but you must be resilient and focused. Victory comes to those who wait quitting.
It was great having you at The Academy Sandra, we wish you success as you journey ahead.
